Taking screenshots is something we all do on our phones, but depending on the phone you have, it can be done in different ways. Most of us just hold down the power and volume buttons simultaneously and then choose to either save or share the image we took. However, there are other ways to take screenshots on your phone that are faster and more efficient if you know how to use them! In this article, I’ll walk you through the 5 most popular ways to take a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy!
Use the Power Button and Home Key
Take a screenshot of a Samsung Galaxy with the Power Button and Home Key. Using the Power Button and Home Key on your Samsung Galaxy is a relatively simple way to capture whatever is on your screen without spending a dime. The buttons are located on the side of your device, about halfway up from the bottom edge. With these two buttons, you have quick access to screenshot capabilities.
Press and hold both of these buttons at the same time, until you hear an audible beep sound indicating that you’ve successfully captured an image of your phone’s screen, or press just one button for capturing only part of what is shown on your screen if that is what you want.

Use Fingerprint Scanner or Iris Scanner
Fingerprint Scanners Some Samsung phones like the Galaxy S9 have a fingerprint scanner as a physical button. Using this can sometimes require swiping your finger across the sensor, but more often than not will only require pressing on it. For this, there is a pattern you must follow that involves pressing once to turn on the phone and then again when asked for login credentials or another passcode. A second press of this button should take the screenshot and save it in your gallery for editing.
Use S Pen or Stylus
Samsung has included some helpful tools that make it easier for you to take a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy. By utilizing the S Pen or Stylus, you can screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy like a pro.
Taking a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy with either an S Pen or Stylus is easy. If you don’t have either of these accessories, you can use buttons and still get great results. To use buttons, press and hold both Power + Home buttons at once. After 2 seconds, let go of the Power button and continue holding Home for another 10-15 seconds until your phone vibrates and captures a snapshot. You’ll be able to see your screenshots in Gallery under the Screenshots album.

Use Quick Panel
Taking a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy can be done in a number of ways, the quickest is by pressing and holding the home button and the power button simultaneously. This will save your screen in its entirety to your device. If you want only a specific part of your screen, or even just one window you can use this method: press home, tap and hold on the icon for as long as you want it saved, then swipe down from the top of your screen with two fingers. Once this is done all three icons at the bottom should turn white, indicating that it has been saved on your device. To open it up, swipe up from any blank space and click recently taken screenshots
Use Side Key Combination
There are many ways to take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy, but using the key combination is the easiest and most basic method. With a few taps, you can capture any part of your screen. Here’s how:
- -On your keyboard, press the Volume Down button and Power button at the same time.
- -If you don’t have a keyboard, press and hold together the Volume Down+Home buttons for about two seconds.
- -To use your palm touch, double tap the screen quickly with your palm.
- -To use Touch ID/Fingerprint Scanner (except for Tab S4), single tap the home button for about two seconds and choose to Save image. The camera icon will appear on the screen.
