You’re stuck in Safe Mode, and you can’t get out! Sounds familiar? You’re not alone, but thankfully there are ways to turn off Safe Mode on your Android phone or tablet, so you can boot up your device as normal again. Here’s how to turn off Safe Mode if you have an Android phone or tablet. Read on!
What Is Safe Mode?
Safe mode is a way for your Android phone or tablet to work without any third-party apps. It’s a useful tool if your device is having trouble running third parties, but it can also get you out of a tough spot if an app gets stuck loading and won’t let you close it. If you find yourself stuck in safe mode, there are two ways to turn off safe mode. You can either reboot the phone from the home screen and then press your power button three times when prompted.
To turn off safe mode, reboot your device by holding down your power button until you see an X appear at the top right of your screen. After that, just press it once. That will reboot your phone and get you out of safe mode so you can use it again normally.
1) Hold down your power button until you see an X appear at the top right of the screen.
When Does Safe Mode Come On?
The safe mode comes on when your Android phone or tablet is having issues and shuts down all third-party apps. It also stops some background tasks, but you can turn them back on from the settings menu. There are a few different ways to turn off safe mode once it’s come on, depending on what version of Android you’re using. With older versions of Android, for example, you could force restart your device by holding down the power button and volume buttons until the screen turns off. With newer versions of Android (beginning with Lollipop), you can go into Settings > Apps > Running and tap the X next to safe mode so that it’ll stop running.
Whenever your Android device feels like it needs some additional help running smoothly, safe mode will kick on. However, sometimes it may feel like you’re stuck in safe mode when you aren’t. This can happen when an app decides to run when it shouldn’t, such as a messaging app still popping up alerts even though you dismissed them. Even if an app seems to be active while you’re trying to turn off safe mode, remember that it may just be delayed and won’t actually pop up after a few seconds of wait time. Once any apps are done running that was delayed by being shut down by safe mode, your Android phone or tablet should turn off safe mode automatically so that everything runs properly again.
Turning Off Safe Mode (Android 8.0)
You’ll need to go through a few simple steps in order to turn off Safe Mode on your Android phone or tablet. First, open the Settings app and tap System (or just System if you don’t see the full list of categories). From there, select About phone (or About tablet) and scroll down until you see the Build number.
To activate Developer options and speed up this process, tap Build number seven times until you see a message that says You are now a developer! Scroll back up and select the new Developer options category. Next, enable Airplane mode by tapping it. After that, tap Edit and then tap Build serial number seven times.
With that done, tap Airplane mode again, but hold down Power (this should put your phone into airplane mode) and immediately hold Volume Up until you see a screen that says Disable safe mode. You’ll then be prompted to restart your device. It may take some time for your Android phone or tablet to reboot after you turn off Safe Mode. If you’re still having trouble with apps crashing, it’s probably best to take your device to a service center so they can check everything out. Hopefully, you won’t have any issues when using Android 8.0 Oreo again soon!
