Reddit users have the ability to change their usernames, whether it’s because they want to change their username to match an updated brand or some other reason. Either way, it’s not difficult to do, so long as you follow the correct steps in order. Here are three steps that will help you change your Reddit username (or create a new account) with ease!
Step 1: Create an Account
To change your username you will need to log out of your current account and click on Log Out in the upper right-hand corner. Then, go back to Reddit and select sign up from the top left-hand corner. Fill out the boxes using whatever username you’d like and input your desired password. Finally, input your email address and wait for an email from Reddit which will have a link within it that says Please Confirm Your Email. Click on this link within the email (you can delete this once it’s been confirmed)
Once you’ve created an account, go back to /r/NameChangers and follow the instructions on how to start a thread for you. Within that thread, tell them what subreddit you want to change your name in, who will be maintaining it once it’s changed, why you want it changed, and give everyone that finds value in your current handle an option of receiving personal alerts when you post within your subreddit in case they’d like similar content. These are all details that are within their rules. We wish you good luck! You will receive hundreds of positive responses and eventually one person willing to do everything above for nothing more than re-enforcement for keeping their current username! A few minutes after posting a reply should appear with an OP update asking if any mods or users had come forward.

Step 2: Choose a username
When you create your Reddit username, take some time to think about how you want it to sound. It doesn’t have to be something super formal like your full name or your initials; oftentimes, simply choosing the nickname for yourself is more than enough. Remember that your username cannot be changed later! Keep in mind as well that others will see this on every post you make and comment so it should not contain any personal information like your full name or anything else which might be considered sensitive by those who are visible on the site. The simplest rule of thumb is: if someone can find out who you are by reading your username, don’t use it.
For example, when I was first getting started with Reddit, I created my account because I wanted to learn more about how Bitcoin works. My username is DrDoom and people who know me can see that on every post and comment I make! However, anyone else can click on my username and find out who exactly DrDoom is if they want to know why someone named Doom would be interested in Bitcoin! If you’re going with something like a nickname or anything which might be considered potentially private information by those who are visible on-site, use an underscore (_) instead of whatever word you’d rather not have people figure out. That way, no one will ever connect you to what you’ve written.

Step 3: Submit the requested information
Enter your old username and password, then click continue. Enter your current name, old name, type of change, and your desired username. Follow the prompts on the screen until you are satisfied with the name changes.
